This BronzeLens screening features a documentary portrait of the pioneering indigenous filmmaker and activist Merata Mita. MERATA: HOW MUM DECOLONIZED THE SCREEN is an intimate tribute from a son about his mother that delves into the life of the first woman from an Indigenous Nation to solely direct a film anywhere in the world. The film documents her work, and her drive for social justice that often proved personally dangerous. The film made its World Premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.

The documentary has been acquired by ARRAY, the film network founded by Ava DuVernay featuring independent work by people of color and women. The Atlanta screening is co-sponsored by Hammonds House Museum and the Producers Guild: Women's Impact Network.

Also plan to see the new exhibit by Shanequa Gay, an Atlanta based artist whose work is collected locally, nationally and internationally.

Parking is available on a lot behind Hammonds House Museum and on the street.

All sales are final -- there are no refunds.
